Aircraft from five countries extending static displays

07.07.2016, 15:21

Visitors of this year’s NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days can look forward to the richest flying programme ever, but there will be a lot of interesting aircraft at static display as well. Five more countries is sending their equipment and total number of participating countries grows to eighteen, matching the second highest number in the event’s history.

The JAS-39 Gripen of the Hungarian Air Force, two Dutch F-16s MLU, Polish transport aircraft C-295M, Swedish tanker C-130 Hercules (designated TP-84T in Sweden) and British fighter jet Tornado GR.4 – all of them will arrive to Mosnov airport to present themselves at static display.

“Although there is no premiere participation, these aircraft will expand the spectrum of capabilities presented at our event. Moreover, we consider it as a confirmation of the international dimension of the event, when we will match the second highest number of participation countries from 2011,” mentions Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. “And because we are still negotiating with some other countries, maybe we will match or even break the record of 20 participating countries from 2012.”

With the exception of the Polish C-295M, all of the mentioned aircraft participated at NATO Days both on static and flying display (although the Tornado “only” in F3 variant). The Swedish Air Force’s Hercules was part of the Swedish Special Partner Nation presentation last year, and in 2013 it performed a simulated air-to air refuelling with two Czech Gripens. The Dutch F-16 MLU is well remembered by regular visitors thanks to impressive manoeuvers of the F-16 Demo Team, this year the Dutch aircraft are so far the only confirmed for static display, when F-16s of the Belgian, Greek and Turkish Air Force will be in the air.

The British Tornado GR.4 introduced itself at Mosnov already ten years ago, but only the F3 type showed its flying display. This year, it will be again at static display together with the Royal Navy Hawks, when two British parachute teams – the Hawks and the Falcons – will show their skills. The Polish C-295M together with the Hungarian JAS-39 will then complement the presentation of the Czech Air Force that has the same aircraft in its inventory.
