NATO Days also serve to present technological innovations and close contracts

NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days are not only the biggest public security show in Europe, but also a great opportunity for private companies to present their new products and meet with their business partners.

The ERA company with its subsidiary OMNIPOL showed the expert community its SICORRA passive multistage radar, another of its airspace monitoring systems. The radar represents another level of development of the MSPSR technology (MultiStage Primary Surveillance Radar) which the company introduced in 2013 for the first time in the form of demonstrator called Silent Guardian.

“Since then, the ERA development team has gained lots of experience during a series of measuring campaigns and military exercises which has help come up with even more advanced solution. I am convinced that this technology, combined with our other multilateral systems such as VERA-NG, represents the future for monitoring the airspace,” says ERA's CEO Viktor Sotona.

General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) presented its ASCOD armoured vehicle at dynamic displays in which manufacturing the Ray Service company will take part as well. At Mošnov Airport, both firms signed a contract worth more than 100 million Czech Crowns regarding delivery of cabling for these vehicles. They thus build on their cooperation in production of Pandur wheeled armoured vehicles ordered by the Czech Armed Forces.

“This order is another example of an excellent partnership between both companies and we are looking forward to continuing our cooperation in programmes of new ground systems,” emphasizes Jakub Gabriel, executive director of Ray Service. ASCOD is one of the candidates for a new armoured vehicle which could replace the aging BVP-2 in the Czech Armed Forces. However, there were also its competitors at Mošnov Airport - CV-90 with 120mm cannon by BAE Systems, Lynx by Rheinmetall or Puma S1 by PSM consortium.

Participating companies also presented other new products at the event. The aforementioned armoured vehicles were easily outsized by the TIGON heavy firefighting special - a worldwide unique vehicle aimed for all types of terrains in which production the TATRA TRUCKS company takes part. General partner of the event, AERO Vodochody, then showed its L-39CW, a modernized version of the L-39 legendary training aircraft which had its first flight 50 years ago.
