NATO Days receive two more awards at EAC Convention

06.03.2016, 18:11

The NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days organizers received as many as three awards at the European Airshow Council Convention 2016. Apart from winning the European Airshow Photography Award, the Ostrava show was awarded 3rd prize for the “Media and Marketing” as well as the Paul Bowen Trophy for outstanding contribution to the airshow community.

The Paul Bowen Trophy comes as a recognition for the dynamic growth of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days in past years. Presenting the Trophy, Gilbert Buekenberghs, the EAC Chairman said: “NATO Days organizers have created a must-see, truly international event, developing long lasting partnerships, striving to deliver the best event for their guests, whilst ensuring they continue to improve their methods of working with other countries’ events and shows.”

The “Media and Marketing” award is the unprecedented fifth recognition in last six years for NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force. The show has received the 1st prize two times (in 2011 and 2015) and the 3rd prize three times (in 2013, 2014 and 2016).

“The three awards that we are bringing home from Malta is something we have not dared to imagine at all since the international competition was extremely strong. For all of us who take part in the NATO Days organisation, this is a great recognition and honour. No other subject has achieved this,” commented Zbyněk Pavlačík, head of Jagello 2000.

The recognitions from abroad and the awards from recent years testify that organizers have managed to pin a new event on the map of European airshows. NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days has gained a respectable place among the most renowned European shows.

“It is a bit of irony that the original ‘NATO Day’ has not been designed as an air show at all. NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year. Only since the third edition had the event taken place at an airport and we can start speaking of an air show only since 10 years ago when the Red Arrows performed,” described the event’s evolution Zbyněk Pavlačík. “The three recognitions this year are a big challenge for the future and a motivation for our further efforts.”

The 2016 EAC Convention was the 20th edition and saw participation of over 120 representatives from 25 countries of Europe, USA, China and South Africa.
