NATO Days are not afraid of the weather forecast !!!

15.09.2017, 09:57

This year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days are coming close and although the weather forecasts have not been ideal so far, visitors do not in any case need to be worried about cancellation of the weekend programme. The whole event has been prepared intensively over the year which is reflected, among other things, in the range of static displays that will bring numerous foreign premieres.

Along with the visitors, we also closely watch the weather forecast for the upcoming weekend, which does not appear positively to many others. Nevertheless, last year's NATO Days are a proof that even though the weather is not what we expect, it does not have any major influence on the event's programme. It also includes dynamic displays which represent the main attraction for visitors.

“We always try to prepare rich and varied experiences for the visitors of our show and it stays the same this year as well. Weather itself is to some extent unpredictable as we could have seen it this week when based on Tuesday's forecast, it should have been raining yesterday and in the end, the sun was shining all day,“ explains Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of Jagello 2000, and adds: “Last year's NATO Days also became a valuable experience because despite the bad weather, Saturday programme was not affected in any way. We thus believe that visitors will not be afraid of the current forecasts and enjoy NATO Days in their fullness.“

“Both showers and heavy rain do not have any decisive influence on capabilities of fighter aircraft, which have been designed for operations in the whole range of weather conditions. Height of the clouds, visibility and wind gusts represent crucial attributes, based on them pilots decide which one of their three rehearsed displays they will perform,“ adds colonel Jaroslav Míka, the display director at NATO Days. Still, one needs to take into account that safety of both visitors and participants comes first. In case of any changes in the programme, visitors will be immediately informed by the moderator or via our mobile app.

In addition, dynamic displays do not represent the only feature of the weekend programme of NATO Days, the biggest security show in Europe. There will also be a wide range of aircraft on static display, including those which have not been shown at our event yet. It is, for example, Canadian CF-18 Hornet fighter jet, Slovak UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, German Dornier 228 transport aircraft, the MiG-15 fast jet of the Czech Flying Legends company or Turkish E-7T Peace Eagle AWACS aircraft.

Moreover, one should not forget about the US B-52 Stratofortress and B-1B Lancer strategic bombers which belong, along with KC-135 Stratotanker, between the most favourite aircraft among the visitors. Debuts of ground forces equipment will also be another attraction as visitors will have a chance to see, for example, Puma and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles, Corsac 8x8 armoured vehicle or Oshkosh M-ATV MRAP vehicle.
