Fans: NATO Days the best European show for photographers!
NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days is the winner of the first edition of the 4Aviation.nl’s European Airshow Photography Award. The result, based on preferences by 800 voters, was announced during the European Airshow Council Convention in Malta.
The Ostrava show has beaten other shortlisted shows – the Malta International, the Radom airshow, the Duxford Flying Legends and the world’s largest show – the Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford, England. For NATO Days, this award is already the fifth during the six years of participation at the annual EAC Conventions. The Award is a testimony to the reputation of the show at the European level.
“By all means, this award is a big recognition and honour and we are very excited about it. It proves the quality of our show. Yet, one has to take the results with some discretion as Ostrava can hardly compare to Fairford,” comments Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. “We would have never won had it not been for our large fan base that supported us strongly. We are thankful to them.”
The Dutch 4Aviation.nl aviation tours operator launched the European Airshow Photography Award contest for the first time this year. They found that such a project was missing so far. The organizers hope for the Award to get established and become a sought-for subject for airshows to compete for in the benefit of photographers and shows alike.
