In 2004, the NATO’s AWACS E3A Sentry early warning aircraft landed on Mošnov Airport for the first time and becoming the very first foreign aviation participant of NATO Days in Ostrava. To commemorate this anniversary we have prepared a list of airplanes and helicopters that have arrived to the event since.

“It was a huge success in 2004 when the NATO’s AWACS landed as the first foreign aviation participant at NATO Day in Ostrava as the event was called back then. Not only has the AWACS from NATO’s early warning element been returning regularly, but the event has developed to huge proportions. In the history of the event we had 74 different aircraft from 26 countries and from NATO,” Zbyněk Pavlačík from the Jagello 2000 Association, the main organizer of NATO Days in Ostrava, reminds.

“We let the anniversary to inspire us to prepare a list of all aviation participants from the whole history of the event. Today is indeed an impressive list of aircraft that demonstrates the development of the event and a significant progress we were able to achieve with your support and which led to a high standard of the last years,” Pavlačík adds.

Numerous participations were exceptional, because they were Czech, Central European or European premieres: “From this long list I can mention the first Central European performance of Eurofighter Typhoon, the very first Ramex Delta team display with Mirage 2000N aircraft outside of France, the Czech premiere of in-flight refuelling display, triple participation of the American B-52H bomber,  two of them arrived in 2012 for both a static and a dynamic display, the Czech premiere of the Swedish S-100 Argus AWACS airplane, the Israeli F-15s and many more,” Pavlačík recalls.

We also pride with last displays of aircrafts that are never going to perform anywhere else and they bid their farewell at NATO Days in Ostrava. “We had a farewell of the British Tornado F3 at Mošnov. We are also not going to see the German Phantom II fighter again or the British VC-10 transport aircraft,” Pavlačík finishes and mentions that we plan to prepare a similar list for ground participants too.
