Military Police back at NATO Days
Among the traditional participants of NATO Days in Ostrava & the Czech Air Force Days is the Military Police, who take part every year. Visitors can once again look forward to a presentation of their equipment and weaponry, as well as engaging activities.
The Military Police play a significant role in organizational support and are an indispensable part of NATO Days. During the event, they provide police protection for the Ministry of Defence, the armed forces, and military equipment. In practice, this means that members of the Traffic and Public Order Service Department of the Military Police Headquarters in Olomouc escort distinguished guests, VIPs, and military technology. Together with Active Reserve units, they also guard demonstration areas, partner exhibits, and the entire premises of Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport.
Security is ensured continuously, both through the physical presence of military police officers conducting checks and patrols, and by means of modern technologies such as the RSS perimeter protection system and the SOM monitoring system. As in previous years, they will be ready to handle any extraordinary situations that may occur during the event. Their base of operations is a tent with static displays located near the VIP parking area, where visitors can also meet them in person.
Visitors will be able to view cars adapted to the specific needs of the Military Police – from the Ford Focus and Škoda Karoq to the Volkswagen Transporter used for traffic accident investigations, and the Isuzu D-Max. Motorcycle enthusiasts will appreciate the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, but the biggest attraction will be the unmanned ground vehicle.
Those interested can talk with Military Police officers about their work, obtain detailed information on joining the Active Reserve or about service conditions, and ask any questions they may have. They will also be able to try out the weapons and equipment, test themselves in a physical fitness assessment and compare their performance with professional soldiers, or take part in a quiz about the Military Police.
