Municipal Police of Ostrava as a traditional participant of NATO Days

29.08.2025, 19:13

The Ostrava Municipal Police will once again be an integral part of this year’s NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. Visitors can look forward to a diverse program of both dynamic and static demonstrations, which will showcase in detail the role of the Municipal Police in ensuring public safety and providing services to the community.

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be a joint dynamic presentation by the mounted unit, canine unit, and tactical team. During this display, officers will demonstrate how they handle crisis situations and maintain public order. As in previous years, the canine unit will provide thrilling moments, with trained service dogs and their handlers working in perfect coordination to show how dangerous offenders are apprehended in real-life scenarios.

There will also be a static display of police equipment and vehicles, including a mobile camera unit, scooter, horse trailer, and the gear and weapons used during routine and emergency operations. The officers have also prepared engaging activities for the youngest visitors – crime prevention specialists will offer a range of quizzes, competitions, and games to illustrate the scope of their work in a fun and educational way. A new and exciting feature will be a safe laser shooting range, where under supervision, visitors can try their hand at “shooting cans” using a laser gun. Small prizes and photo opportunities with officers will also be available.

Throughout the event, the Ostrava Municipal Police will operate three large-capacity bicycle parking stations, which can accommodate over 10,000 bicycles. These stations will be monitored by police officers in cooperation with crime prevention assistants, ensuring that bicycles are stored safely under constant supervision. Additionally, due to the large number of cyclists expected to attend the event, Municipal Police bicycle patrols will be deployed across Ostrava to maintain public order along the cycling routes leading to the venue and assist cyclists with navigation. The patrols will also be equipped with first-aid kits to provide emergency medical assistance if needed.
