NATO Days in Ostrava are prepared for all weather conditions

14.09.2016, 20:59

As all fans, we are also closely watching the weather conditions for the upcoming NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. In spite of the not very positive forecast, the event will not be affected at all.  The static displays of the aircraft will offer a unique collection regardless the wind conditions.

The news about today’s year are unfortunately mostly about the American bombers B-1 and B-52, however the static displays will offer almost 50 different aircraft, including convertiplane CV-22B Osprey, premieres of the two P-3 Orion, transport A400M, Apache helicopter, Tiger, NH-90 or AS365. The four Eurofighter Typhoons of the four different Europeans countries will be also part of the static displays.

However, most visitors are interested in seeing the air dynamic displays. These cannot be affected by the rain, but the height of the clouds might be a problem, this confirms also the director of the dynamic displays, Col. Jaroslav Míka: „The combat fighter jets, that will perform their displays during the weekend, are capable of flying in any weather condition, therefore the rain cannot affect their display. What matters is the height of the clouds, visibility or the speed of the wind,“ comments Col. Míka. „Nevertheless, we are always aware of these complications during the air shows, thus the teams have usually three variations of the displays, depending on the cloud conditions.“

„We are fully experienced with rain at the NATO Days and also with the unnecessary concerns regarding the weather. Previous year’s departures were supposed to be complicated due to the rain; nevertheless the day was clearly blue. Therefore we firmly believe, that the weather forecast is going to be wrong as in the last year,“ adds Zbyněk Pavlačík, CEO of Jagello 2000.

Despite the fact that the umbrellas are allowed, we do not recommend to use them due to the high concentration of people in the area of the event. „We would like to ask the fans to bring the raincoats or ponchos. The raincoats will be also available in the info centres,“ Pavlačík concludes.
