Polish AGAT unit to showcase international cooperation

09.09.2025, 13:48

Once again, the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will feature the traditional participation of Poland. Both in dynamic and static displays, one of its special operations units – AGAT – will present its capabilities.

At the 25th anniversary edition of the event, visitors will see AGAT operators in two dynamic demonstrations of allied cooperation. In tandem with the Rapid Response Unit of the Moravian-Silesian Regional Police Directorate, they will carry out a thrilling assault to free hostages from a secured facility. Their cooperation with Czech forces will not stop there – AGAT will also join paratroopers of the Czech Air Force in the traditional symbolic parachute jump with flags.

“For many, Polish participation at NATO Days is simply indispensable. The presentation of Polish Armed Forces has been part of the event since its very first edition, when elite paratroopers from Bielsko-Biała appeared at Černá louka in central Ostrava. Since then, with the exception of 2003, Poland has not missed a single year, making it the most loyal participant of the event – something we deeply value,” commented Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. “Moreover, this year’s partner country, Italy, will also present its special forces at Leoš Janáček Airport. For the first time in the event’s history, we will thus see the special forces of two foreign participants on display simultaneously – a truly extraordinary occasion.”

At Mošnov Airport, AGAT will present its specialized Oshkosh M-ATV armored vehicles, designed to withstand the effects of mines and improvised explosive devices. These vehicles will make their debut not only in a dynamic demonstration but also as part of the static exhibition, where visitors will be able to view them up close along with AGAT weaponry and equipment.

Jednostka Wojskowa AGAT is one of the light special units under the Command of Special Forces of the Polish Armed Forces. The unit made its NATO Days debut in 2016, but this year marks its very first cooperation with the Czech police Rapid Response Unit – their originally planned joint debut last year had to be canceled due to devastating floods. This follows the appearance of their colleagues from the GROM special unit in 2023, who also performed alongside Czech police. AGAT’s primary mission is to conduct sabotage operations behind enemy lines with the aim of disrupting enemy combat activity.
