Rafale Solo Display again in the Mošnov sky

10.07.2025, 08:44

After seven years, the French Air Force Rafale will return to the flight programme of the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. During the solo display, they will demonstrate the skills of twin-engine fighter aircraft.

The Rafale multi-role aircraft made its first appearance at the Ostrava Airport in 2016, and was last seen in a static display with distinctive camouflage in 2022. The Rafale Solo Display aircraft, which will return to Ostrava this year, also features an attractive paint scheme inspired by the French tricolour. Captain Jean-Brice “Mimouss” Millet, who is in his second season as a display pilot, will take to the cockpit.

"We perceive the repeated participation of France as a symbol of alliance commitments and partnership both at the bilateral and alliance level," comments Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. "Rafale aircraft are among the top in their category, but they do not appear very often at domestic air shows. We are therefore very pleased that this year's jet portfolio will be expanded by this unique aircraft."

Established in 2009, the Rafale Solo Display has been one of the most sought-after dynamic displays since its inception. It left a huge impression with visitors to NATO Days most recently in 2018. As the name implies, it operates on the French-built Dassault Rafale twin-engine 4.5 generation fighter aircraft. The latter was created after France abandoned the development of a common European aircraft - the later Eurofighter. Its main purpose is to fight for air supremacy, reconnaissance or strikes against land and sea targets. Unlike the Eurofighter, it is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and is also produced in a version suitable for operations from aircraft carriers. It is thus the only non-U.S. machine that can land on the decks of U.S. ships.

The Rafale first saw live action in the Allied mission in Afghanistan, where it provided air support to ground troops. They have also been deployed in operations in Libya and against the Islamic State. In addition to France, these aircraft are also in service with the air forces of Egypt, Qatar, India and Greece, while contracts for the delivery of new or older Rafales have already been signed by Croatia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
