Slovenian PC-9Ms: Hudourniks return to Mošnov

12.03.2021, 12:35

Visitors to the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days 2021 can look forward to a pair display of Slovenian PC-9M Hudournik aircraft ("swift"), which will return to Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport after three years. This is the third confirmed foreign participant after Sweden and Canada.

With its first participation back in the 2012, the Slovenian Air Force has already become a traditional NATO Days partner. This year, Slovenia has already confirmed the participation of a pair of PC-9M aircraft, which visitors could see in previous years both in the air and on the ground as part of static display.

"PC-9M aircraft form the backbone of the Slovenian Air Force. Although they do not reach the speed parameters of powerful jets, light turboprop aircraft still have their place in today's air forces around the world, where they often serve as training aircraft, thanks to their excellent maneuverability. PC-9M are also very suitable for operations in steep Slovenian mountains," notes Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000.

PC-9M Hudournik is a light turboprop aircraft from the Swiss company Pilatus. Within the military air force, it is used for flight training before switching to more powerful machines. However, Slovenian aircraft are also equipped with weapon holders and are thus adapted for light combat missions and can conduct attacks against ground targets.
