Support units to feature in the Czech Army’s presentation
Support agencies and units of the Czech Armed Forces are long-standing participants in NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. This year, too, they will showcase the breadth of their activities and demonstrate why their work is indispensable to the functioning of the military.
At the milestone 25th edition of the event, visitors can look forward to a diverse exhibition illustrating how the non-combat units of the Czech Armed Forces provide the essential facilities, equipment, and expertise needed to accomplish demanding missions both at home and abroad. Several dozen pieces of equipment and interactive educational activities will be on display.
“Although these units are not as visible to the general public, they are of crucial importance for the operation of the armed forces,” said Zbyněk Pavlačík, the event’s chief organizer. “We are delighted they will be presenting again this year. While their work may not involve thrilling displays of fighter jets or heavy armor, they represent the foundation without which no army could function - ensuring that tanks and aircraft can actually take to the field.”
The Logistics Agency will demonstrate the backbone of military support management. In addition to logistics vehicles, it will bring historical weapons and a T-34/85 tank. Its subordinate Deployable Forces Support Battalion from Rakovník will highlight the international dimension of its activities in a joint display with the German Army’s 163rd Logistics Battalion, featuring, among other equipment, the world’s smallest tank - the Wiesel AWC.
The Military Health Agency from Hradec Králové will underscore the importance of military medicine with field hospital containers designed for urgent care. The Communication and Information Systems Agency will showcase the cutting-edge technology of the army’s signal units, including the MILSATCOM satellite complex and the TITUS KOVS system.
No military can function without human resources, and at the Career Center visitors can learn about the full recruitment process. The Personnel Agency will provide details on service in the Czech Armed Forces, including joining the Active Reserve or taking part in voluntary military training. Educational and career opportunities will be presented by the Secondary Military and Higher Vocational School of the Ministry of Defence in Moravská Třebová and the University of Defence in Brno. Representatives of the Regional Military Command Ostrava will also be on hand to provide information on “POKOS” - the preparation of citizens for state defense—as well as on the Josef Otisk Infantry Company of the Active Reserve.
At the booth of the Military Academy Vyškov, visitors will learn about the basic training course that awaits prospective professional soldiers and reservists. In addition to information, the display will feature a Pandur 8x8 infantry fighting vehicle and light armored vehicles Iveco LMV and Dingo II.
The Army Sports Center Dukla will once again be present, offering visitors the chance to try a rowing simulator and a laser shooting range. It will also host autograph sessions with Olympic champions: on Saturday, five-time Olympic medalist Josef Dostál, and on Sunday, one of the Czech Republic’s most successful athletes, David Svoboda.
