Swedish Historic Flight returning in the same strong line-up as last year

25.07.2016, 12:40

Swedish Air Force Historic Flight is going to repeat its stellar representation from last year at NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days 2016, planning to show up with the same four aircraft. Three of them will be making dynamic displays while one will act as a support, showing off all SAAB jet aircraft from the Flight’s inventory.

“This is going to be already the fourth appearance in a row of this unique team at our event and we really have not expected that this year. We are immensely grateful to our Swedish partners for the excellent support that just illustrates how great our mutual relations are. Last year, Sweden took on the role of the Special Partner Nation and the return of their historic aircraft just underlines that this special relationship is continuing,“ comments Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of the main organizing agency, Jagello 2000. “Swedish Air Force celebrates its 90th anniversary this year and we are glad we can commemorate this jubilee with the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight at Ostrava,” Pavlačík adds.

Like last year, spectators will have a chance to admire various generations of the Swedish, SAAB-built aircraft. The AJS 37 Viggen fighter, its predecessor SK 35 Draken and even older J29F Tunnan, a.k.a. “The Flying Barrel“ will all make flying displays. Acting as a support aircraft like last year will be the SAAB 105. The current generation SAAB aircraft will be represented in the air by the JAS 39 Gripen of the Czech Air Force.

“Last year, we could admire a unique flyby by these five planes, four with Swedish and one with Czech markings, with an impressive final breakout. I believe we have a lot to look forward to this year again, having the Swedish historic team as one of the most attractive draws for the 2016 show,” concludes Zbyněk Pavlačík.
