The Jordanian Special Female Task Force returns to NATO Days

23.08.2022, 11:35

After six years, members of the special female anti-terrorist unit of the Jordanian Army are returning to the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. As in 2016, they will perform a joint dynamic demonstration alongside the Czech Police Task Force Unit.

The Quick Reaction Force Team (QRFT) is an entirely female counter-terrorism special unit of the Jordanian Army which for the first time appeared at NATO Days in 2015. It was also their first foreign performance. They demonstrated a hostage rescue operation in a live demonstration together with members of the 102nd Reconnaissance Battalion from Prostějov.

“Jordanian soldiers will return to NATO Days for the third time and both of their previous performances were a huge experience and the visitors shouldn’t miss their display,” says Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. “Peculiarity of this unit is that its members are only women. In fact, it is very rare and unique in the Islamic countries.”

QRFT is a part of the Jordanian army which was established after terrorist attacks in Amman in 2005. Main impulse for creation of the entirely woman unit was the fact that the attacks were performed by a woman. Specialization of this unit is fight against terrorists in tourist areas, especially fighting in towns and a hostage rescue operation.

The Czech Police regularly demonstrate their action displays with foreign units on NATO Days. For example, previously they performed with the Polish or Slovak Police. This year it will be their second performance with the Jordanian soldiers when in 2016 they rescued hostages from a kidnapped airplane.
