Turkish Stars will shine again over Ostrava
Visitors of the 25th NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days can look forward to a unique experience. After twelve years, the star formation Turkish Stars will return to the event, making them the third aerobatic group heading to Ostrava Airport this year.
The performance of the Turkish Stars, flying the NF-5 Freedom Fighter supersonic aircraft, will be remembered not only for the pilots' skill in the sky, but also for the unique performance of the team's commentator, who entertained the crowd with a mixture of Czech, English and Turkish, adding his own twist to the show.
"For fans of aviation and aerobatics, this year's NATO Days will be truly special, with the third aerobatic group confirmed to participate in our event. Turkish Stars with supersonic machines will offer a completely different show than the previously announced Croatian group Wings of Storm with turboprops and the British Red Arrows with jet trainer aircraft," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. In their previous performances in 2011 and 2013, they were always one of the highlights of the programme."
The Turkish Stars aerobatic group was founded in 1992. It is the seventh team to be an official part of the Turkish Air Force and its purpose is to demonstrate its capabilities. Since its inception, it has been flying modified F-5 light supersonic aircraft, which were developed by the US firm Northrop to gain air supremacy, but are low cost compared to larger aircraft. However, as they are being retired from service, the Turkish Stars group is already expected to switch to Turkish-origin TAI Hürjet aircraft.
