Customs service to present confiscated contraband,and crackdown on smugglers

Czech Custom Administration has prepared a wide list of their work outcomes for the visitors on NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force days. Customs officers will present the machines for counterfeit goods production, detection dogs training and they will intervene against smugglersalong with their Slovak counterparts.

“We can expect a lot from the custom officers at NATO Days. Visitors will be given a chance to see seized cigarettes and alcohol, detection machines for illegal production and counterfeits of goods,” promises Jiří Barták, the spokesman of General Directorate of Czech customs administration.

One part of the exposition will be dedicated to the history of customs administration – an opportunity to meet customs officers in historical uniforms and get an idea about how they use to work in the beginning of the 20^th century.

Customs administration has also prepared two dynamic displays. “The first one will be an intervention of Czech and Slovak customs officers against the smugglers executed by Group Operation Unit from the Czech Republic and Intervention Service Unit from Slovakia,” says Bartak. “In the second presentation, the visitors will find out what it takes to detect specially hidden items in public transportation or on the bodies of smugglers.”

Other members of Customs Administration in the D02 arena called “small dynamics” will present what the training of detection dogs in a training centre of World Customs Organization looks like.

This year’s NATO Days take place on the 21^st of September, which is the name holiday of St. Matthias, a patron of customs officers not only in Czech Republic. “Due to this special day, we will prepare special events,” encloses Barták.
