German Air Force arrives with more first-time displays

15.05.2025, 09:04

This year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will not be without the traditional large-scale participation of the German Luftwaffe. Visitors can look forward to a display of equipment in dynamic and static displays - giant transport aircraft, combat machines and a multi-purpose helicopter.

At the last NATO Days, Germany was to be a special partner nation and was going to present a record amount of military equipment. And although it will not hold the status of partner state this year, the German presentation will again be very rich.

Three transport giants will arrive at the Ostrava airport. A dynamic display will showcase the A400M Atlas, a modern four-engine aircraft that, thanks to its versatility, can be used to transport equipment, troops and humanitarian aid. Visitors will also be able to see it up close in a static display, where it will be complemented by the delayed premiere of the latest variant of the famous C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft. The aircraft is operated by Germany as part of the International Tactical Airlift Unit and stands out in particular for its ability to operate from short and unpaved runways.

The Luftwaffe will also contribute to the dynamic jet display portfolio with the Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role aircraft. Known for its iconic shape consisting of a delta wing and duck wing surfaces, which together with twin engines give thrust and manoeuvrability for precision aerobatics and aerial combat.

They will be complemented in the next premiere by a medium weight multi-purpose helicopter, the Eurocopter AS532 Cougar. This is designed primarily for transporting personnel and supplies, but can also perform search and rescue operations. It is the successor to the well-known Puma model, which has been used since 1978 by a number of European operators, including France and the Netherlands.

“Germany has long been one of the most important partners of our event and we are very pleased that after so many years of their participation they are able to offer visitors more attractive premieres,” says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. The ground equipment that visitors will be able to enjoy this year will be announced in the coming weeks."

In addition to the German Air Force, the ground forces with the NH-90 TT helicopter will also take part in the flight programme of the NATO Days in Ostrava. Its dynamic display is very popular not only because of its high manoeuvrability, but also because of the spectacular flare launching elements. In addition, the same machine will also be available for the static display.
