Norwegian F-16s at NATO Days again after seven years

12.04.2019, 11:59

Norway is the second Nordic country to confirm its participation in this year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. The Royal Norwegian Air Force will present two multi-purpose F-16 combat aircraft.

The Royal Norwegian Air Force will show two versions of the F-16, a single and two-seat version. Visitors will be able to see both at a static show where they were last seen in 2012.

"Norway is a founding member of NATO, and we are pleased that they are joining the celebration of the 70 years since the Alliance was founded," said Jagello 2000 chairman Zbyněk Pavlačík. "The F-16 is one of the symbols of NATO, the most widely used supersonic fighter in the world that should not be missed to celebrate this important anniversary."

The F-16 Fighting Falcon, a single-engine multi-role aircraft, is in the equipment of more than 25 countries, including 10 NATO members, and is a traditional participant in NATO Days. Half a year ago, Slovakia decided to purchase the most modern version of this aircraft as a replacement for its MiG-29s.

The F-16s were deployed in NATO-led operations in the Balkans, including NATO's first ever combat action Operation Deny Flight, Afghanistan or Libya. They have also been involved in many conflicts in the Middle East and Operation Desert Storm.
