Vote for the best ground display for the first time

12.09.2023, 12:40

This year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will include the traditional competition for the Mayor's Cup for the most impressive aerial display. A new award for the best ground display, called the Jiří Ruprecht Memorial, will also be awarded this year. The winner of the Jiří Ruprecht Memorial will also be decided by visitors to the event on Facebook.

"While air displays have been appreciated since 2016, we would like to erase our debt to units with ground displays that have lacked similar public appreciation. Jiří Ruprecht, the long-time director of the Olomouc Detention Prison and coordinator of the Czech Prison Service's participation in NATO Days, who died last year after a serious illness, was instrumental in introducing this award. That is why this award is linked to his name," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000.

Visitors to the event will decide the winner of both prizes by voting on Facebook. In the case of the Mayor's Cup, it will be held on the official Facebook profile of Ostrava, while the Jiří Ruprecht Memorial will be decided on the profile of the NATO Days in Ostrava. Simply "like" the photo of the displays you like the most. The Mayor's Cup and the award for the best ground display will go to the performer who collects the most "thumbs up".

In the previous year, the Mayor's Cup went to Hungarian fighter pilot David Szentendrei, who showed his skills in a JAS-39 Gripen C.

Voting will be open on Saturday 16 September from 9 AM to 12 PM.

The winners will receive their awards on Sunday 17 September.
