Few Things to Consider before Departure to NATO Days

11.09.2015, 20:22

NATO Days in Ostrava and Czech Air Force Days belong to one of the most visited events in Czech Republic. Please pay attention to the following text and recommendation, so you can fully enjoy this experience.

We are more than honoured that during NATO Days and Czech Air Force Days is Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava visited by hundreds of visitors every year. Therefore it is the largest security show in Europe. Please follow the visiting rules and safety guidelines of organizers, in order to ensure smooth course of event.

Safety - The safety of our visitors is an absolute priority for us

Concerns about safety are the reason why flying displays (besides arrivals and departures) cannot be conducted in the axis of the tarmac, which is typical for the other events. We wish it too, however as long as the location of the central parking area (and there is no alternative) stays in the same spot, we cannot change it. We know that the direction of displays (including the partial orientation against sun) is not ideal, however in terms of safety, there is no better option or alternative.

In accordance with necessity to ensure the safety of visitors and ensure smooth course of event, we requested the Council of Moravian-Silesian Region - the landowner, as well as the last year, to ban entry into areas under the display line, which is a dangerous area and we received several complaints about concentration of people in the area from display crews in the past years. Please heed the entry restriction under the display line (see orientation plan of access roads).

We would like to ask our visitors, to bear in mind that it is not possible to place a venue in other area of the airport.  Please understand that we are fully aware of the fact and all aspects connected with it, like the necessary "walk around the fence" from central parking area to the venue. Therefore, it is necessary to walk around the so called threshold of the runway in safe distance to ensure the safety of the visitors and also the landing aircrafts.

Visitors like the dynamic display to be as dynamic, effective and realistic as possible. Therefore, they are connected with loud noise effects, either caused by jet engines or pyrotechnics. So we recommend to take protective gear for your ears and carefully consider presence of your children on the venue. Earplugs can be purchased at info-stalls in the venue area.

Transport - Plan your arrival and departure properly

Every year, all the visitors wish to see the most interesting programme possible and they wish to keep the free entry. On the other hand these circumstances result in high interest in visiting the event. No matter if you use the train, coach, car or bicycle, it is necessary to count with delays, which is unavoidable. Therefore, during preparation of your travel plans think about spare time for traffic jams, waiting for coach, long queue in bicycle storage zone, or other possible complications.

We open the central parking zone at 6:30. The gates to the venue are open at 8.30. The gates are open till 17:00 on Saturday and till 16.00 on Sunday. It is not possible to move these figures, because on Saturday night it is necessary to prepare everything for the next day and the clean-up of the venue already starts on Sunday. It is not possible to perform these works later, because after the sundown the venue is not artificially lighted.

Please bear in mind that while the entry to the event is FREE, a spot central parking zone costs 150 CZK for a car/per day. Please prepare the amount in advance to speed up the whole process at entry to the zone and therefore to avoid traffic problems. Our appeal for patience and respectful behaviour applies also to visitors using other means of transport. How to get to Mošnov by car, please see section Transport by car.
