Helicopter squadron will rescue a shot-down pilot
For many years, 22nd Helicopter Base in Náměšť nad Oslavou is a traditional participant of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. For weekend event at Mošnov airport, it presents two types of attack and transport helicopters Mil Mi-24 and Mil Mi-171, which will both participate at dynamic and static displays.
Czech Air Force presents also helicopter gunships besides fighter planes at NATO Days . Visitors will have an opportunity to admire not only one, but even two dynamic displays of this base. The first one is the maneuvering demonstration of two-seat attack Mi-24 helicopter. The second display, any less attractive than the previous one, is a simulation of rescue of shot-down pilot by transport helicopter Mi-171š.
“Thanks to the presentation of the 21st Tactical and 22nd Helicopter Bases and presence of transport bases and ground forces under Air Force command, the visitors have the opportunity to see full spectrum of Czech Military Air Force,” stated Zbyněk Pavlačík from Jagello 2000
The 22nd Helicopter Base takes also part in many international exercises, for example Eagle 2015 or Ample Strike 2015, which is currently ongoing at Náměšť Airbase.
Moreover, Czech pilots also trained Afghan pilots during Allied ISAF mission. Attack helicopters of the 22nd Helicopter Base might be seen not only during NATO Days, but also at many different international airshows, as was the case of this year's Netherlands.
The Czech Army has obtained both types of originally Russian helicopters as a part of deblocation of Russian debt. From 2001, Czech Mi-24 “Hind” squadron is also a member of “NATO Tiger Association”.
