Slovenia to introduce the L-410 in addition to the traditional PC-9

Visitors to this year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days can look forward to a dynamic demonstration of the PC-9 training aircraft performed by the Slovenian Air Force, which will be accompanied by the L-410 transport aircraft at the airport in Mošnov.

The Slovenian Air Force will reappear at NATO Days after a two-year break. As usual, it will present a PC-9M turboprop aircraft, nicknamed Hudournik by Slovenians. It will present itself to visitors both on the ground and in the air during a dynamic demonstration. Moreover, the L-410 Turbolet will be placed in the static exposition.

"In previous years Slovenia had planned to send the L-410 as a support aircraft for its Hudourniks, but it was always replaced by land vehicles. We are so glad that this time Turbolet in Slovenian colours will be shown at a static display," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. "This will also be Slovenia's largest participation in NATO Days so far."

PC-9M, known in Slovenia as Hudournik (swift), is a light two-seater aircraft designed by the Swiss company Pilatus. The Air Force use it mostly for basic flight training as a pre requisition before switching to more powerful aircraft but can also be used for ground attacks.

Let L-410 Turbolet is a light transport aircraft developed by the Czech manufacturer Aircraft Industries (formerly Let Kunovice). The aircraft can carry to 19 people or 1.7 tons of cargo, and its advantages include the ability to land or take off from a short and unpaved runways.

Since Slovenia does not have a tactical air force and does not intend to set it up, Italy and Hungary, its neighbouring NATO member states, alternate in protecting its airspace.
