Vote for the best ground and air display

This year, visitors to NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will once again have the opportunity to decide who will win the Mayor of Ostrava’s Award for the best air display and the Jiří Ruprecht Memorial for the best ground display.

The Mayor’s Prize was awarded for the first time in 2016, when it was received by the aerobatic team of this year’s special partner nation – Frecce Tricolori. In previous years, the award was won several times by David Szentendrei, a JAS-39 Gripen pilot of the Hungarian Air Force. In 2023, the debut year of the Jiří Ruprecht Memorial, the award went to the Czech Army’s 7th Mechanized Brigade.

“I am pleased that we are continuing this tradition, which allows spectators to pay tribute to the participants. I believe that this year, the interest in voting will also be high,” says Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000. "Since 2023, it has also been possible to vote for the best ground displays, with participants competing for the Jiří Ruprecht Memorial, named after the former director of the Olomouc Detention Prison and long-time coordinator of the Czech Prison Service’s participation, who passed away three years ago after a serious illness."

So, how does it work? During the event, you'll need to keep an eye on the sky over Mošnov airport or watch the dynamic ground displays. The winners of both awards will be decided by voting on Facebook. The Mayor’s Award voting will take place on the official Facebook profile of Ostrava, while voting for the Jiří Ruprecht Memorial will occur on the NATO Days in Ostrava profile. All you need to do is “like” the photo of the demonstrations you enjoyed the most. The awards will go to the participants who collect the most "thumbs up."

Voting will be open from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, and the winners will receive their awards on Sunday afternoon, September 21.
